Default How does the integra compare to honda civic?

Hi guys I'm new here and just had a few questions I'm hoping you can answer.

I'm looking to buy a car in the 1997-2000 year range, hopefully around 100k miles because I'm only looking to spend 3-4k. I'm also looking for a manual.

Basically I want to know how an integra compares to a honda civic in terms of MPG and reliability. What are the pros/cons to owning either car?

Thanks!

As far as reliability and gas mileage, i can't see there being too great of a difference between the two. When my GSR was stock, i always got around 25-27 mpg city and 31-33 mpg hwy...i dont recall my Civic ever getting much better than that.

The main difference you'll see in an Integra vs a Civic is that the Integra was built to be a more "luxurious" version of the Civic. The doors feel a little more solid and there are more options offered. Leather is one of those options that you'll notice right off the bat. My GSR has it and my EJ8 never did. Whichever one you chose, i'm sure you'll be happy with.

Well, I owned a 4dr eg and currently have a 94 teg, and as far as I know, they're the same in mpg and reliability. The B18 in the integras have more oomph in them though. The standard options on an integra are present in the civic ex models (power windows, mirrors, etc. not including sunroof) As stated, the integra was based off the civic, and was meant to be the luxury equivalent of the civic.

I currently get about 32-34 city on my integra, and neither car left me stranded.

i think your mileage in each car would be roughly the same... it would sort of depend on on how well kept each car is... air filter, 02 sensor, etc. besides mileage, the civic would have a less likelihood of being stolen. consider it since you're in... NJ of all places.

Just so you know, you're not going to find a decent 97-01 Integra for 3-4k.

So far, I've had 2 Civics (EF and EJ1) and 3 Integras (DC4, DC2R, DC4). I just love the Integra line. It does feel a bit heavier than the Civics, but still just as fun to drive. I also LOVE the cluster and interior layout much better than the Civics.

My EJ1 and DC4's both had good MPG's, with the Civic probably getting ~1MPG better all around due to the smaller engine size and lighter weight. Not a big deal, though.

One of the best things about the Integras is the hatch design. You can fit a TON of stuff in the back with the seats down. Could not do that in the EJ1.

And like said above, you will not fine a mint Integra with ~100k miles for $3-4k.

i really wouldn't see a major difference on reliability? correct me if i'm wrong but don't 2000 civics(exc. si's) and under have rear drum brakes? if so that's the only con i can think of. not really a con.. but yeah...

cosmetic wise i always see the headlights haze up on civics, not so noticeable on integs. the pros on getting a civic is chances are you'll find one in really good shape for around 3-4k, most integs around that price range will either have high miles or abused with apc tails.

No, 4 wheel disc was an option for the lower models and (just learned) standard for the EX's. Si's also came with 4 disc ABS standard (all the same size as an Integra).

You should consider the theft rates of Integras and modified Civics. These cars disappear at least 2-3 per week in Chicago and its outlying burbs. It's the sad truth about owning these cars. I never park it where I can't see it. If you really want either, you should probably have some extra funds for a beater car.

civic and integras = (bitting nails because of thieves and cop magnet)
better off with an nissan SER b13 or b14 you could get a b13 turboed around the price range that you are shopping for

hey guys thanks for the input. I am not really looking for a modified car that will draw attention just a regular car that gets good MPG and will be a little fun to drive. I have a hyundai i'm driving now to save money but it just doesn't drive all that well but I will say it's great on gas an reliable.

Are the nissan's really that reliable? I have no idea what to look for but if I can get a rwd nissan that's cheap and fun to drive I'd definitely consider one.

BTW I can't seem to post in the classifieds section is that just b/c my post count is so low?

I am new here also and looking to replace my son's 98 Accord Ex that was totaled. I can get an 2001 Acura Integra with 76,400mi for $7600. Is this a good price?
The dealer told me the Integra was comparable in size to the Accord not the Civic. Is it more in size with the Civic? That seems like a very good price since a 2000 Accord EX with 131,000mi is at a dealer near me for $7,900! I would like some opinions. Thanks!
