how to back down timing?
im doing a budget build on my rs that was stolen. i know i said i was leaving honda but i cant. im gonna run a saab front mount, home made manifold-tig welded, small t 3 turbo from a saab-a/r48.42. ghetto charge piping, adjustable fuel pressure reg. new fuel rail, an fmu from a kenne bell supercharger kit, oil lines from home depot, fish tank check valves...ect. but i was wondering how to back down the timing. i wasnt sure how much you back it down to be safe and where to do it. on the cam gears or the distributor? help is always apreciated, thanks!

loosen up the 3 bolts bracing the distributor and for turbo, you'll need to retard the timing by rotating the distributor towards the front of the car (away from firewall). people make estimates when doing this and i rele dunt recommend adjusting timing by guessing. go to sears and pickup a timing gun for $40 or find someone that has one to accurately set ur timing. too much advance timing can cause pinging and detonation when too much retard in timing will cause the motor to bogg and run slow.
