High Compression with boost
Hey guys, here is the setup I was thinking about. I know it will be tough, but tell me what you guys think. This is on a B18C1 with about 70K mi.
Skunk2 stage 2 cams
B16a pistons (bringing compression to approximately 11.4:1)
skunk2 retainers, valves, springs
Full MSD upgraded ignition
Venom injectors with FPR, pump, and high flow fuel rails
comptech exhaust (4-2-1 header, test pipe, catback)
Fidanza flywheel
Spoon cam gears
AEM underdrive pulleys
Here is where the fun/trouble comes in, I would like to put on a JRSC and run 8-10 lbs of boost (hopefully 10) i know it would take major tuning, and may not be possible (high lift cams with boost etc.)
I am looking at either a Hondata or an AEM EMS (any opinions on this?)
And yes possibly a 50-100 shot of Nitrous (once again the high lift cams come into play). I know this is a broad question, any input is awesome. And if you would like to commit me to an insane asylum IM me and we'll work something out.

boom as in good, or boom as in you're fucked? I want to run the highest compression possible with boost, i have heard that if you can set it up right the gains are very nice.

with 11.4 comp and turbo. You'll need to run on race gas and get it tuned perfectly.
Drop compression down the 10:1 or 9.5:1

high comp and boost.. you need a higher octane gas... and real good tuning.. you'd have to run lower lbs of boost too.. lower compression will get you to boost higher.. but with high comp applications you cant boost as much without proper tuning
do it!!!! ..........high compression + boost = BOOM!

High compression with boost is great. Greater driveability and throttle response off boost, more power with less boost. You have to tune anything FI'd, high or low compression.
as i've said before;
if you've got the $$$$$$$$$$$$, do a high compression (10.5:1 or higher) turbo setup with lower boost. you'll have a buttload of low end torque, & a larger turbo will spool up as fast as a small one, without the high rpm flow restrictions & heat that small turbo's have.
that downside of this is that you have to make sure it is tuned correctly, however, with the new AEM EMS & Hondata systems, its not as hard as it used to be

I saw you're using B16 pistons.. high compression with OEM pistons is different than with aftermarket, because forged pistons are able to draw heat away from the CC alot better than cast. This will obviously help in preventing detonation. Plus you have Endyn's RW pistons which supposedly have even more built-in anti detonation characteristics, but that's still up for debate from what I hear..
Also, those cams are going to kill you. Skunk2 Stage II are basically JUN III's. Way too much overlap. Try stock cams or maybe ITR cams.

What about skunk2 stage 1 cams? I am now thinking 10:1 CR with 10 lbs on with stage 1's or itr's. I heard if you can get the overlap tuned out that there are some very good gains, but maybe stage 2's just have too much overlap.
