so many people have done retrofits and so have i... i haven't had problems with this nor have i heard any problems rising because of it. i used a6 projectors with the 4300k d2s bulbs.
so your saying that i can put hid on both the low beam and high beam sides and they wont be any clearance issues just buy an HID kit to fit my integra and thats it no problems with clearances????

Too bad they emit less than 1/3 the light of a real HID kit.
Silverstars suck. If you are going to upgrade the stock bulb, Xtravisions cost less than half the price and offer much better light output.

d2s is just a hid style bulb. silverstars do really suck compared to hid's. hids will cost the same in the long run when you keep replacing your silverstars. i dont kno if you would want hid's in your highbeam housing. hid wouldnt be effective unless you give them time to warmup. if you flicked your highbeams at someone real quick it would be a super weak light. i got a 6500k for my teg
So, no one has had any problems using the stock projectors with 9006 socket HIDs? That's one of the things I wondered about. I can see retrofitting in a civic, but the integra already has the projector housing, I'm just not sure whether they can handle it.
Answers, opinions? thanks.

Cool, If I do go for HIDs, i'm still debating on retrofitting or going with a much easier plug'n'play unit.
Next question: Does the light color, say "4300k" vs "12000k", affect temperature?

If you mean thermal temperature, then no. However, actual light output of the capsule begins to diminish above 4300K.

Integra's stock halogen projectors are designed for Halogen bulbs. They will cause alot of glare and have terrible output compared to HID projectors because they are not in the foci of the projectors since HID bulbs are longer. On the otherhand, Hid projectors will have 'sharp' cutoff lines that will look really cool on your car.
Anything above 4100k will have less output. HIDs will not burn anything if you are using a quality kit; what ever the color temperature is.
Don't upgrade your Highbeams, Hids need a warmup time so you wont be able to flash it. Also, flashing hid bulbs will shorten it's life. you dont want to buy new $200 HId bulbs. Stock highbeams are fine.
IMO go retro. But if you must, buy a quality kit with a harness so you won't short your stock wires. Hope that helped.
