Default HID problems

I have a set of McCulloch 9006 6000k HIDs. The left side has issues. It takes it 30 seconds longer than the right one to start the warm up phase (left side not even on). Now I do a long drive with them at night. And the left side starts going on and off. Then it totally goes off. I checked all the connections they look good. I replaced the 10amp fuses with 20amp ones the other day. I'll check for a blow fuse in the morning. Any one have any ideas?

I got this kit off ebay for $225, so it guess it was too good to be true. I'm asking the seller for my money back if I can't get this worked out.

Did you try to swap the bad bulb with the other ballast? Try & check, if it keeps happening, you got a bad bulb.

Mine did that too. Never knew why....I ran a 25A fuse in there on a 8000k kit and it still shorted in one side sometimes.

I switched everything around, changed bulbs, changed ballasts. Still does the delay thing. So I assume its bad ballast. I opened up the ballast. Nothing I can do, its a filled with black sealant stuff.

Anyone got any ideas? Anyone know McCulloch's #? Their website is down and I dont have instructions.

connect a relay from your battery to the ballast....that will draw less current and you'll only need a 30a fuse

So how will this solve the one ballast not working correctly problem? It still doesn't work correctly even when its the only one connected.

I would never open the ballast...those capacitors if shorted can blow in your face. Are you sure you tested the bad bulb with both ballasts? Does the good bulb turn on slow with this suspected ballast? If you can't contact them I'd try getting Philips ballast.

Kind of hard to follow what you did. Did the problem follow the bulbs or the ballasts? Does the same side always have a delay? More specific please.

its a problem with the ballast/ignitor unit. Its getting worse as time goes on. Bulb won't stay on more than a few mintues now before the ballast turns itself off.

new ballast for me i guess.

I have the G-Garage/McCulloch HID kit (4300k) on my Integra, and I have had NO problems whatsoever. Mounting was kinda tricky, and I accidentally nicked my hood, but otherwise it's been great. Had it since February.

What does your bulb/connector look like? Unless you can find a used Philips ballast like on eBay it's more cheaper to just buy a new kit. New ballasts runs about $150 retail.

I do see a pair of ballasts on eBay for $229...I almost want to say just get a new 4100K kit (for the brightest) or 6000K at the most (for the slight purple/blue color).

I've never heard of specific problems with this type of kit. Maybe it's just a dud ballast. IMO, the Philips and Catz kits are the most reliable.

In this case scenario, I would have to say RELAY.
Many kits come without relay which for some reason causes yor hids to go on and off while you are driving.
With a relay, it solves the problem! and lets you turn your hids on and off without any problems

McCulloch kit is top notch. Its just I bought it used from some guy on ebay. I paid $225 for the kit. Then I told him the ballast was broke and he sent me $150 to replace it. So basically I paid $75 for the HID kit. Only ballasts like McCulloch ballasts are BOHMEN.

I'm not sure a relay will even solve this. Its just a bad ballast.

thx for the help everyone.
