Default HID Kit question

I'm looking to convert to HID for my Integra and have a few quesetions.

Alright, so it's a 2000 GS-R. (usdm front end) So my low beams already have projector housing.

I'm looking at this kit

Now I was doing some research and heard that those kits are pointless since my projector housing at stock.

For them to look good, do i need new housing? Is there a difference between my projector housing and "aftermarket" ones?

If anyone can help me out, i greatly appreciate it.

Most people go with Projectors that come with HID's stock (E55's Audi's) and they retrofit them into the integra housing. I mean when you put the HID into the Integra housing it doesn't look THAT bad. There are just people on here that beech about stuff like that. I would just get the kit for now and gather up money then retrofit the projectors when i have the chance!

I replaced my projectors w/ new hella bi-xenon ones. Light output is excellent and they will last a very, very long time. Stock projectors will cause glare and rebased bulbs won't last very long.

How much were those new projectors?

I think i'll go ahead and try this and if I'm not happy, i'll maybe look into a new housing.

in my experience if you buy a quality kit with name brand ballasts and good re-based bulbs then they will be very good as far as light output and overall quality

of course nothing is quite as good as retrofitting compete projectors but what it really comes down to is how much u think it is worth

i have a hid kit with re-based bulbs and really couldn't be more happy (it is a K2/Vision 6000k) This is by far one of my favorite things i have done to my car...don't think i will ever have another car that dosn't have HID's just because you can see sooo much better. wish i had some more/better pics but this is the best i can do

I don't want to retrofit though, well I do. But I don't have the money for it.

I looked at this.
https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=1126677

https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=1140970

From what i see, with stock projectors, glare will suck.

Also, from what I have been reading, the glare is caused since there are 2 types of projector headlights---> One being Halgon projectors (integra) and HID projectors (bmw, audi, etc)

am i corrrect?

glare is caused because ur running hids in a projector meant for halogens. All the extra light shoots up a bit since the cutoff of our headlights weren't made for hids.

If i were you do a retro. So it's a little tricky, might as well learn something new in the process. Buying a hid kit is cheap, but later on you'll pay by buying replacement parts. A true quality hid kit...is one using rebased bulbs since you'll get more usuable ligh in the end. But replacing parts for a rebased kit is expensive. Grab a kit with bosch projectors or Valeo projectors for about 400 on HIdplanet.com

Yah i don't think i'll do a plug and play kit anymore.

But I am wondering,
Can I buy the plug and play kit with these following HID Projectors?
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors...QrdZ1

thanks in advance.

p.s. If I don't go with the kit in begining of the thread, then i basically need the following:
2 ballasts
2 HID bulbs
and of course, 2 HID projectors

Did I get that right?

Awesome. Well, with that said, I have noticed that most people get the Audi projectors. Are they better for integras or are they much cheaper or what?

Does it matter which projectors I purchase?

I know this is an itegra forum but I am going to post here anyway since its about HID's. How bad do you think the glare will be with 99-00 Civic Type R headlights? I am not going to retrofit since the headlights were $500

I have the same kit and mine are purple like that too. They look great in reality, I get compliments on them all the time and output is awesome.

Obviously not OEM HID quality, but for a pNp it rocks. I think the whole retrofit bandwagon has gotten a bit out of control...retrofitting HIDs is definitely the right way to go if you have the time to do it and want to embark on the project, but just slapping on a good aftermarket kit is still a great upgrade.

I was looking to buy the exact same kit that "Dawrenn" posted.

I guess the key here is that if I don't want to upgrade my integra projectors just yet (due to $$ problems of course), then buy a good name blaster and bulbs.

With that said, the ones that comes with the link posted above being:

Techone Technical Info,

Does anyone know if they are good or not?

Does it come with a warranty? Looks like its a run of the mill cheap kit, which isnt always a bad thing. I would just try and get some pictures/experiences of people that already run the kit.

My retrofit cost $500, but that's cuz I got new hella bixenon projectors and new auerswald ballasts. You can find probably find used or more common parts for cheaper. Check classifieds and ebay.

If anyone is thinking about getting HIDs, and considering a retrofit, why bother wasting time with a kit? The notion of getting a kit now, while saving up for a retro is wasteful. Spend the extra dollars and do it right the first time. Just my .02
