Im looking to get a 97 integra but the check engine light is on because of the exhaust. its a straight pipe, is this an easy fix? what would i have to do to get the light off?

Yes an easy one get a cat put in place of the test pipe OR get a 02 fouler. both options are easy. however confirm that it is infact an 02 code and not something more serious.

Would it affect the motor at all driving it for a while? I never messed with straight pipes

a test pipe only offers a gain hp wise over a conventional CAT. if you don't have to pass emission's i'd just leave it and get a fouler. no it won't have a negative affect on the engine.
