help, e-brake problem
My car is a 94 integra ls. Recently i just started to notice that sometimes when im done driving and go to park, when i pull up my e-brake its doesnt work. It doesnt even click on the way up and wont lock. I have to sit there and play with it and pull it up and down a couple of times before it will work or i get pissed off and just leave the car in 1st gear and go. Has this happened to anyone else or does anyone know what might be wrong. Thx
well since no one else has replied I'll give my tow cents. never had that problem myself in any car but an ebrake by defenition is a pretty simple setup. It has to be to fit that whole "emergency brake" name. its all mechanical, no ecu or computers involved whatsoever, save the sensor that tells its on. its basically a steal cable that manualy engages the brakes. To check it ou, just trace the cable back and see where its either broken, bound up, or if the problems in the stopper, the thing that makes the click click noise which it sounds like it is, replace the part. Sounds to me like the tensioner, the thing goes click, isnt doing its job, so no matter how hard you pull the lever, it doesnt keep the the brke cable pulled, check that first. Hope it helps. anyone else with knowledge on this either back me up or prove me wrong
i've had this problem to me, i've figured it out but haven't gotten around to fixing it....the problem is the button. when it doesn't lock or click next time, release it and try pulling the button out and try it again....
