Default Help diagnose starter problem

i have a 1994 acura integra GSR. here's my issue. just a couple of days ago it became difficult to start. full charge on abttery, turn the key, all electronics turn on but starter does not engage. i then "shake" or "rock" the car a bit and it then usually cranks and starts. i think i need a new starter (12 years old) ... any simply way of checking? i think replacing it is easy to do. do i even need to jack up the car? anything i should be aware of when changing starters? thanks!!

You may as well get a new one they are not very expensive. You also don't have to jack up the car to take it out, its not very hard to do.

yep, sounds like the starter is taking a crap. Any manual B series starter will work.

just take it to a local auto parts store..i believe they can check the condition of the starter for free. As for taking out the starter, its just a matter of a few bolts, there is no need to jack up the car
