Help! Car jerkin / lurching back and forth in 1st/2nd no throttle applied
Hi folks, need some input regarding this problem that has bugging the absolute hello outta me.
As the title says, off throttle, in 1st or 2nd gear, just coasting at around 5 mph, the entire car will begin to lurch back and forth indefintely and rather violently too. This is most obvious if I'm stuck in slow traffic chugging along in first gear and I let off the gas = lurch back/forth.
This also happens in 2nd gear, although the lurching is less pronounced (due to longer gearing).
From what I can observe, the RPMs are dipping up and down, corresponding to each jerk.
Any input is appreciated, I'm at wits end

sounds normal to me. just give it a little gas or press the clutch pedal in. you can also try replacing engine mount bushings or adding inserts, sometimes that can help with bucking if you have mad engine flex. i doubt that's what it is though since you are only going about 5mph.

something similar happens to me...and it is my clutch grabbing...I just adjust it and it goes away...

If I carefully engage the clutch without any throttle, I can get it to drive along smoothly at idle in 1st. But if something perturbs it, it'll do some of that lurching.
