help
i recently bought a '99 integra, and the guy who had it before me cut off the clip for the head unit, and wired his shitty head unit straight to it. so i went to the junk yard and got a stock accord clip, and wired all but 3 of the wires onto mine.. all the colors match up, except for the last 3. i even mixed and matched all 3 in every combination, but no luck
my problem is that i don't know which of the last wires go to which. my head unit is getting power because the cd ejects, but the display isn't showing up, nor is it even playing.
does anyone have a head unit wiring diagram for an accord, integra, or both? so i could try to figure out these mystery wires and maybe why it just isn't playing?
any suggestions are greatly appreciated

Do you own a test light? If not, go pick up an el-cheapo one from Discount Auto or something.
Get a battery, a triple A will work.
You will know when you have the correct pair of speaker wires when you can hear a popping or static noise coming from the speaker.
In order to determine polarity you will need someone to help, and a flashlight. Have the other person look at that speaker using the flashlight (to see through the grill or whatever) while you perform the pop test again. This time, tap the second wire much slower, holding it to the second side of the battery for up to a couple of seconds at a time. The person helping you will be looking for the direction of movement of the speaker cone. If the speaker cone moves towards you, then the wire that is touching the positive end of the battery is the positive speaker wire. If the speaker cone moves away from you, then the speaker wire that is touching the positive end of the battery is the negative speaker wire.
Once you have that determined and wired up to your stero, find your constant power and your remote.
Hook those up to your stereo and you shoudl be in good shape. Don't worry about wiring in another harness or anything.
ANd, really, this needs to be in the Audio/Security/Video section.
rptd.
