Default Headlights... Help?!

This might be a stupid question... but I was wondering if anyone knows an easy/ easier way to take apart integra headlights than heating them up because that doesnt seem to be working. They are from a 99 integra. The reason i want to get them apart is because they have water in them and they are oxidizing on the inside so i want to polish them. Any advice would be appreciated.

headlight

this is where i need to seperate the two parts

this picture is just for fun

anyone?

Just takes some time and effort. heat it up so the glue melts. I found that a heatgun is easier than the oven method. Use a knife or spatula to create a seam in the silicone.

Keep at it.

Tried that and it didnt work. the plastic shell started to melt before the silicone even started to get soft. I dont even think its silicone. I don't really know. Thanks though anyone else have any suggestions?

Yea to get the lights out you have ot take the whole bumper off like in my last picture. TO do that you have to remove the bar that has i think it was 8 screws across the top, then the 2 bolts underneath the car. then there are 2 screws attaching the bumper to the fender along with 2 clips on each side. After you take the screws out the clips slide off. Oh yea there are to more bolts by the top cornes of the bumper on the radiator support. after you take all that of the bumper comes off. Haha sorry if thats confusing.

"Spoon.DC2" = LS Integra

LOL

Anyway, you have to bake them to take them apart. There's no other way.

I never said i had a dc2. its just a name. and besides most people recognize all integras as dc2. its more universal. who cares about chasis codes. because honestly i dont. why did you even post if you had nothing that would benifit the thread???

You apparently care about chassis codes, since you felt a need to include it in your username.

To add to this, to take apart the headlights without destroying them, the glue must be melted so that the lens can be separated.

Nope, I deleted the first post I made because I forgot to add my comment. I don't post in tech forums without trying to help out. Even if I had to poke fun at your username.

I provided advice and will continue to do so, until he succeeds in taking apart his lights.

what I said about untill yours breaks down then watch out meant that untill something on your car screws up and you can't fix it. Then he would have to give you some advice on what you need to do to fix your stuff. Then he could make fun of your username. People grow up this is a site to get help on not a teenager gang up.

I'm not editing a damn thing, you're just damn slow at replying.

Are you ever going to answer my above question in regards to the problem you're having?

200 degrees for 8 minutes which is what most people recommend. i also used a heat gun which started to melt the plastic befor the sealant even started to get soft, as i stated above....

I can say without a doubt that I'll never need advice on anything from you or the threadstarter.

If you can't take criticism, don't post on Honda-Tech.

Try baking at 250 degrees for around the same amount of time. I don't think you had the temp high enough.

Also, I would recommend not using the heat gun as that will only heat up small parts of the headlight and will make things harder for you, IMHO.
