how many people have put 9005 where the 9006s go
does it hurt anything?
does it ruin the electrical socket or get so hot it will crack the projector light fixtures?

can some one explain how to do this proceadure?

 

I used to have this mod. It does not hurt anything. The wattage on a 9005 is 60-65 watts. It will not damage anything.

i used Cool Blues... blew up in my housing... had to get a new hl unit... $300, but lucky me, covered under warranty!

 

You probably touched the bulb or got something on it. I've had 9005's in my lows for almost a year now w/o problems. I had Cool Blues for about 8 months, then got the Silverstars when those came out. See sig to see what I think about it.

 

I had the 9005 conversion using sylvania silverstars for a few months w/o any problems...

 

Smear dielectric grease on the contacts if you're worried about overheating. This is a good idea anyway b/c as the contacts corrode, the amount of light output decreases.

 

mine melted the pigtails.... smelled like urine in my car couldn't figure out why.

 

60W of current (standard 9005 wattage) should not melt the headlight harnesses, either low beam or high beam. If so then you must have another problem elsewhere.
