well i had to smog my car and purchased some stock headers well i just purchased the rings that go between the headers and the down pipe my question is how are they properly installed...the rings have one side flat and the other has a little angle to it...there are 2 of these...do i put the flat part toward the down pipe or the headers????...here is a pic of it.....thanx in advance.....

I thought between the header and downpipe you just use a regular gasket or high temp rtv or something?

I thought the ring gaskets were between the downpipe and cat?

 

Ahhh, your a perfectionest like me...

The flat side of that gasket goes against the actual header, and the side with the little angle goes into the cat.. If you look at the shape of the cat youll see what i mean...

 

yeah the headers are 2 piece i'm talking about the part were the manifold and the down pipe connect not were the down pipe and cat meet.....i thought it was a gasket too but no!!!...it's two rings.....how do you properly put them on flat side up toward the header or flat side down toward the down pipe.....it's called the Exhaust Flange Gasket...picture below where it says "two-piece design" the gasket that goes there....well thanx in advance fellahs
