Default Header question

Just wondering, I bought an exhaust and cat system (Apex-I WorldSport), which was on an EK, for my DC2. There is a 5 inch gap of course because my car is a '98 GSR... BUT, the exhaust comes with a midpipe that's supposed to fill the gap, even f it doesn't, I'll bring it to a muffler shop...

My question is, what do I need to change in total to swap my complete intake and exhaust system to the same specs as an RS or TypeR?

Id like to be able to use intake/exhaust pieces from RS/ITRs without customizing them on my GSR since they are way easier to find around here. I see so many deals passing in front of mye eyes for B18B's and C5s =/

Let me know what that involves, and if what Im planning to do is stupid...

Thanks dudes!

Default Re: Header question (seifer)

If I am reading your question correctly, you would like to make whatever modifications necessary in order to run LS or ITR air intake systems and exhausts on your '98 GS-R, correct?

As far as the intake is concerned, it will likely be more cost-effective to simply find a GS-R intake. However, if you want to run an ITR or LS intake, your easiest option would be to install a Skunk 2 intake manifold (which is very similar in design to the ITR piece). Once that is installed, you should be able to run any LS or ITR intake with no other modifications.

For the exhaust, you would simply need a header that was designed for an LS or ITR. These headers are longer than your GS-R exhaust manifold, and will allow you to to bolt on an LS, ITR, or '00-'01 GS-R exhaust.
