Header has a dent, will it affect performance?
I am about to purchase a used comptech header. However, it has a ding in the piping that comes 1/4" in on the inside of the piping. The ding is located about 3" in front of the collector on top of the piping. Do you guys think this will affect performance and if so how much? Thanks.
You'd probably have to flow test them to find out, but it looks significant. I mean guys port and polish to get better flow and it is relatively small compared to that ding in the header.
Perhaps an exhaust shop has a mandrel that can remove dents? I don't doubt that this happens enough that someone would make a tool to get that out. Call around. Talk the guy down by what it costs to fix it.

yup it has 10k miles on it, as far as how significant the dent it it comes in 1/4 inch on the inside of the piping.

You can probably take it to a welder who can pull it out with no problem. I had to do that for my JDM 4-1, all in all I had about 4 dents pulled out, a couple which looked worst than that, and he charged me $15.
