GSR Not Getting Spark and No Power To The Port Where You Connect a Scanner
So i swapped a 2000 gsr into a 98 gsr shell and have made sure all the fuses are good and that all the wired are connected and all grounds are good. The engine cranks fine but it does not start. It is getting fuel but no spark to the spark plug wires. I believe it is getting power to up to the distributor but then it does not get power to the coil. I replaced the coil and ignitor and cap and rotor and still nothing. Then I attempted to use a obd 2 scanner tool to see if it would run any codes and the scanner would just shut off because it was not getting power from the obd2 port on the car. I thought this was weird but then i tried the scanner on my prelude and it worked perfectly fine and gave power to the scanner. I have no idea what it could be. I've spent several weekend trying to figure out what it could be but no luck. Any suggestions???

Check ecu fuse again and make sure you ecu is pluged in.
Obd2 port not having power has something to do with car not starting.
It is missing power or ground.

Does your CEL come on for about 5 seconds then go out? or does it just stay on? You will have two wires going to the coil. Take your test light and probe the + wire... with the key on it should illuminate steadily... the - should flicker or blink while cranking.
You should also be able to jump the 2 pin blue connector on the pass side kick panel and retrieve codes even though it's obd 2.

well my friend call me yesterday and told me that we did the timing wrong because he forgot that on the b series the cylinders are reversed so we timed it with the 4th cylinder piston at tdc so now on friday night we are going to get it done correctly and hopefully that will be what is causing the problem. Can the timing cause the car not to throw spark due to something dealing with the crank position sensor?

well if the firing order is wrong then you'll be firing the wrong cylinder at the wrong time. What that means... is if the mechanical timing is off the valves would be slightly or completely open.. which in turns means you wouldn't build enough compression to ignite the mixture...
hope ya didn't bend a valve.!

yea i hope i didnt either but im not getting spark to the spark plug wires when i test by taking it off and holding it near the block so i was wondering if the mechanical timing is off if it would stop the distributor from sparking because the crank position sensor is telling it not to spark?

Check at your ecu for any broken wires. Look up online which wires have power at the DLC their should be 3 and a ground. Check ground for resistance and opens. Check power at three specific wires.
Engine issues Not sure where to start. Have you retimed the engine properly. Are you getting a spring stable spark. Are you getting fuel?
