GSR Head compatible with RS engine?
I have a 97' RS Integra Coupe and I wanted to go Vtec and I figure the easiest way would be to get the head off a Integra GSR but I don't know if that would work. Help
I tried looking it like you told me, but nothing in the case where I need to know how to hook up the head or anything...Can you just put it on or is there something you need to do to it?

To do a proper LS/VTEC conversion it can be quite costly, while the gains are not that huge relative to the cost. Rather than do an LSVTEC conversion on the cheap, I would save your cash until you can either do one properly or go forced induction. Just my $.02, good luck with whatever you end up doing

yup...that's how it starts...you're fooled into thinking it's cheap just b/c the head only costs like $500....but what you don't realize is is that you need pistons (b16 or aftermarket) that's like $300 right there and labor on piston install alone is expensive as sh*t...you need a new VTEC ECU....(like $350) and opn top of all that (and other things i didn't mention), you'll need a new transmission (b16 or b18) b/c the gears in your LS tranny will make your N/A LS/vtec motor pretty gay when you constantly fall out of your powerband....i know from experience

it doesnt matter what you do its going to be expensive.
A stock GSR head on a stock LS block will yeild about 160 hp which is about the same as an ITR motor with more torque.
Beats spending 4+ grand on a ITR swap.

i have looked into doing both with my 98 auto ls and after a few months of research i have learned that ls/vtec done properly will cost you more initially than a turbo setup, although both are good projects and will enhance the performance aswell as the fun factor of the car i would say that turbo is the easier of the two and you will notice a significant gain in power right off the start. either way you look at it the car will break and you will have to keep spending money...
It all really comes down to what your goals are. With a turbo LS, you'll lose some throttle response and driver input in the name of power. With the LS/VTEC, you won't be making as much power, but will have a more responsive engine that modulates easily with driver input. After having 2 turbocharged cars, I'm in love with the response I get from a good all motor setup. It all really comes down to what you want.
