Does it grind only in 2nd gear and pop out of all gears? Or pop out of only 2nd gear?
In any case, before you assume and take action against the worst, try the easy things first. Change/replace your transmission oil with something like GM Synchomesh or similar. Check to see if your linkages are aligned and not bent. Go from there.

Possibly, but I would do that first before worrying and spending money on rebuilding it, or replacing it. It's easy and it's a few dollars.

i havent tested it out up high yet, but yeah i just bought the car and its a stock so im not out racing it lol. but im pretty sure it will be the same result up high or down low in rpms.
