Default greetings

hello,

new guy here. just wanted to drop by and say hello. I just bought a 1995 Acura Integra from a friend. I needed a daily driver as my WRX/STi is a bit punishing on the commute to work.

about the car: red 3 door rs that was involved in a very minor rear-end/front end accident. No metal damage, other than the hood. I"ve just got to get the front fascia re-aligned/replaced and the rear bumper set up. car runs perfect, just needs to be detailed and a new hood, more than likely.

so, i'll search around a bit and see what i can dig up on this site. If anyone has some suggestions for the apprx 100K mile service, please post up. I figure a new timing belt, transmission fluid change at the very least for preventative maintenance...

Since the sti is all modded out, i figure i'll find some initial improvements (intake, etc). suggestions are always appreciated.

thanks in advance,

yeager

First, welcome to H-T. Just check out the forum guidelines before posting, this way here you don't get flamed. It sounds as though you already know what your doing in the aftermarket world so I can assure you won't be a newb that just posts garbage and bullshit. Nearly anything you need you can find in a search or we can easily answer right here on the board. Any pics of the STI or the Teg?

Timing belt, Cap and rotor (check it), Water pump, Plugs/Wires, normal maintenance. When I first get a car I change everything unless I have records of the changes, don't trust someone's word that you bought it from. Change it for yourself so you have no doubts. Simple green that engine bay if its dirty, change your oil and finish the rest of your normal maintenance and see what happens from there. Do a compression check if you want to see what type of condition your engine is in (personal satisfaction).

Down the road. You should turbo that teg

usually, by default, i do not buy anything labeled "junk"

thanks for the welcome. i'd post pics of the sti, but i don't think i'm allowed as of yet. I'm still in 'time out' haha.

i'd love to post a pic of it though...

Mods to the STi:

Unequal length header
Full turbo-back exhaust with high flow cat
Motor/tranny mounts
Rear swaybar
Full defi gauges
Cobb AccessPort reflashed ECU
Pissed off fiance

apprx 385 crank tq/hp, god knows to the wheels. I haven'y dyno'd yet. So much parasitic loss with awd

why do you suggest a thermostat replacement? Are there known issues with the stock t-stat over 100k?

thanks.

Integras are about as reliable as any car can get, there are really no issues with anything. Just change the timing belt, water pump, tensior, drive belts, filters and fluids and you should be good to go. My 90 integra has 300k on it and all I do is change the oil every 7.5k and belts every 80k. Just make sure you have oil in the engine and its not overheating and it should be good to go.
