so id like to start off talking about my old da. last year i had an automatic da integra as a beater car. once you put it into park you couldn't take the key out. i was frustrated with whats going on. so i noticed after a few days the "P" park light (red) had to be on for the key to be taken out. i tried a few methods to get it to go into park, like shake the shifter or bang on it a few times to hear the notch or switch that its in park. sometimes it works right away and sometimes it takes forever. drove it all winter with the problem then sold it.

SO..... my girl recently got a 91 integra automatic and same thing is going on. im starting to think is this common with these integras? what can i do to fix this? something to adjust, tweek a little, etc???

You need to adjust the, "A/T Gear Position Switch" located on the side of the shifter.

Remove console, loosen switch mounting screws/bolts, move switch, back and forth until gear position reads P, [park light comes on each time you shift into park], re-tighten screws. 94

 

thanks, but do you have a picture or drawing of where or what the switch looks like that your moving? side of the shifter, where(right/left/top/below)?

It is mounted on the right side of shifter mounting bracket, [#10] the switch is #4...
