Default Gas

What gas brand performs the best in a GSR?. I put some low grade cheveron in my car a couple weeks ago and some how it seemed like the car was running stronger than it does with the usual Shell that I use.

chevron is decent gas. it all depends on where ur location is. there are different stations at different parts of the country. but id pick chevron over shell. It shouldnt really make that decent of an impact that you can actually feel it run stronger. mostly thats all in the brain

by low grade you mean 87 octane? 91 or up on all vtec motors is recommended. I switch consistanly from the local shell & chevron and see no performance gain/loss.
I tell you waht though...the closer to 100 octane I run the better it runs and milage is boosted by as much as 15-20%. I've been thinking about picking up a pail of 100 or 105 unleaded vp fuel to mix up with our crappy CA 91 octane... 5 gallon pail sells for about $30 or so @ local off roader joint.

yeah keep that 87 **** out of your gsr. and if you want above 91 you can get octane boost.

you should actually really stay with the recommended 91 octane. There's a lot of threads about gas, next time you should search a little bit. Just a heads up.....

as for my own personal experience, i get the best gas mileage with chevron. Chevron Techron and 76 Pro power have seem to work the best for me.

yea gas prices here are like 2 bucks a gallon for 92 octane so I figure saving some money and running 87 in the winter wont hurt. I will switch back to 92 once the track season starts back up in a week. I usually go wit Sunoco 93 octane but they seemed to have done away wit that so thats why I was just trying to see what my next best option is now/

$2.00 is cheap... here we are playing $2.40+ and rising every otherday. $2.00 cant even get us regular at arco

Please, do your car a favor and dont go below 91. Go the extra few cents, she would do it for you.

Yea, your car was programmed for 91+ octane. Below that it just hurts your engine because of the high compression.

And wow thats expensive gas in Cali. The highest its ever been here is 2.09 for 93 octane. And taht was at Shell, which is the most expensive in town.

I pay 1.589 for 87 octane at Randalls or Sams Club. Its cheap, but I haven't noticed anything wrong with my engine.

from my personal experience....

shell and chevron performed the same..
arco did pretty well on the freeway, but hella shitty on the streets...

i say go with shell.

gas prices here in cali are killing me!!! $2.499/gas for 91 octane

I would consider 76 to be a pretty good one. There prices arent that expensive and you dont lose performance.

Are you kidding? 76 is the most expensive gas station in Cali. Rip Off, IMO.

i tried some 93 Chevron this morning but didnt really notice anything but that it didnt feel like the car performed as good as it was wit the normal 87 Shell that I normally get. Later tonight I tried 93 surpreme Exon and the car performed as it normally did wit the 87 Shell. So what is Shell just the better gas or somthing?, I guess im going to run the 93 V Power then
