fuel cell?????
hello everyone!!! im lookin to install a fuel cell in my integra and wanted know what all parts were needed and how hard it would be to do also can yuo keep your
the car is not my dd and mainly a track car and the stock tank is rusted and i keep picking it up in my fuel filter and clogging my injectors and making my car run like **** and i dont want to buy another tank when i could just put a cell in and drop a few more pounds
... even if you get a cell, you're gonna fill it up with gas anyways, right? so where's your weight reduction there... if you get a weight difference between the stock tank and the fuel cell, i'm sure it's not MUCH.
how do you figure that stock tank is steel and 12gallons fuel cell is 5 and aluminum or plastic seems alot lighter to me and i dont wanna spend 200 for a new tank when i want a cell anywho
think!!!!!!!!!!! this is a track car.... the weight difference between the stock tank and the fuel cell which mostly are made out of plastic, should be enough reason to justified the tank swap. When ever you take weight out of the car is like you are adding horse power at the wheels.... Plus what use will he have for a rusted 12 gal tank on a race car
i say that you should hold a fuel cell in your hands band compare it to a gas tank before you make that call. go to a junkyard to pick up a good tank and spend your remaining cash on something important like suspension or engine mods...

junkyard tanks are going to be just as rusted i have looked and a fuel cell weights like 3 pounds empty a steal tank minimum 45 pounds dude its 12 gallons but i found a inline 255lph pump cell is ordered as well as lines cants wait to put it in and run my car again finally
i call BS on the weights of the tanks. a steel tank does not weigh 45 lbs and a fuel cell does not weigh 3 lbs. especially not if it has a good sender and you factor in all of the other things associated with it. anyhow, you do what you wish to do. it's been done many times before. i'm sure that searching around will yield whatever it is you'll need.
A smaller aluminum fuel cell will no doubt weigh less than a larger steel fuel tank, but a 42 lb difference in dry weight is not likely. Of course you're free to do what you want, but one option that wasn't mentioned was having the stock tank flushed, steam-cleaned and/or acid dipped, and lined. That option should be cheaper than either of the ones mentioned. There are even do-it-yourself kits available that one can use to reline and seal the tank.
Are there specific rules regarding fuel cell installation that apply to your racing class? That may be a good place to start.
where do you get these tank reliners at and i was exagerating on the tank a little but the fuel pump is external mount and cant weight much i was just hinting at the fact there would be a drastic weight difference imo
An auto paint supply store should be able to help you out. There are DIY kits available from Eastwood and POR-15. It'd be a lot of work, but may be cheaper than a new tank. The other option is to have a shop do it. Just look for one that does fuel system service. It might be hard to find these days, though, as I think replacement has become the norm instead of repair.
