Default FMU vs eManage

on a turbo installation
is the FMU not recommended as a solution at all? People are saying that FMU's are junk and that an eManage would definitely be the way to go.

Any success stories with FMU's?

Thanks

both of those are less than ideal. fmu's in general suck as an effective fuel management. an emanage is a piggy back and again is less than ideal but can get the job done, although not as effectively as hondata or crome or some other ems.

i'm voting for the chipped obd1 ecu. that's the best way (other than a stand alone) to tune your car. although if picking between an fmu and emanage, i'd vote for the emanage.

although the hondata or crome is ideal its a pain in the *** to reburn or rechip or reprogram your ecu everytime from what i understand...i have the e manage and im very happy with it...although its piggyback everything is on the fly...ignition, injectors, vtec, and everything else is easily controlled...for more info look at their site...but the best thing is a standalone and AEM makes a decent one with basic map's to start with...

so its a matter of prefernce once again and if your deciding between the 2 choose e-manage...it will probablay be a good idea the change the ignition timing when boosting to prevent detonation...

i dont know much about the tuning side of things, but i do remember this thing called an ostrich that is a chip emulator so you can make changes on the fly to in IC. might be a little bit cheaper than emanage too

the ostrich is used in conjunction with hondata or crome

I say ditch those two, and get a quality, reliable and a reputable standalone system, which offers full customization, adjustability plus more for your ecu when tuning your turbo'd vehicle. Hondata would be my best option.

I was using an FMU for two years with no problems at all! However, I was only boosting under 10lbs at the time and drove conservatively. I could only afford what my budget allowed. Although, I highly recommend a standalone system if you can save up for it. You have more options in tuning with them. I have friends that are using AEM and others using a DFI. It just comes down to preference and of course your budget.
