F-up teg. help
my radiator busted while on a trip. the nearest town was only about 10 miles away. i didn't want to keep driving but after nagging from my girl and company, i thought i could make it. well after anout 5 miles and driving in the red temp gauge. i called it quites. now it takes a long time to start it. it idles about 100 rmp and is really rough. it dies if i don't keep reving it. its an automatic. what else should i check for. i got a new radiator and still same prob. is it the tranny? why is it idling so rough? help thanks. its a 93 2nd gen integra ls automatic.

after driving like that
you bent your valves
so its time to change your valves or even better
buy a complete head that its more cheaper
for about $50. to $150.
do the math just about 12-15 for each valve times 16

10 miles with a busted radiotor is not the greatest idea......... shouldn't have listened to them, but yeah, most likely your valves...

Uhm. sounds like you really fucked up your motor. You should have not let it get into the red for anywhere near that long.
In all probability, you warped your head, at least. Your valve seals are toasted, lord knows what else could have happened.
Shouldn't have listened to them, but live and learn. Make them pay for the damage.

Re: F-up teg. help (BlackB18CTeg)
here's the update. i just towed it home about 2 days ago. i started it up to see if it still had problems. i did this about 5 times. 4 of five was normal. it idled ok too. i haven't really drove it yet, just from the street into my garage. and it was doing fine. i just got done taking out the old radiator. i'm waiting for the new one to come. it will be a week i think. taking it out was a pain. i hope putting it in will be easier. i'll update again when i put in the new radiator and try to drive it. oh, before i took out the old radiator, i flushed the cooling system. the car was on for five minutes and sounded normal. what i think happened was. when the radiator busted it let a bunch of steam and water in the intake and distributor. since then i think it dried up. thanks for caring guys.

Re: F-up teg. help (bgx9ner)
new update. i got the new radiator in. still runs bad. these are the symtoms, the oil is milky, the outlet on top of engine that recycles into the combustion is steaming out a mixture of oil and antifreeze, the third cylinder is bad. what can be the problem? cracked head? bent valves? blown head gasket? warped head? how much do you think it will be to fix? is there a good resource for me to check out if i want to try to do it myself? thanks gang

this is just me... but if everything is THAT bad, I would take it too a shop unless you feel VERY confident about ripping apart your block and head... thats just MHO....
