I have 2.25" piping on my GSR with a 22" resonator and a magnaflow muffler and tip. The weird thing is that every time I switch gears or hit 65 miles an hour I hear a loud rattleing noise that comes from what seems to be the piping or the muffler because it sounds like it comes from the back of the car.

yeah, a heat shield is loose, or the piping is hitting the chassis somewhere...
my GSR in EVERY gear, at 3800-4K it humms alittle.. always does.. and always will.. untill it gets unbareable.. but oh well.. lol

yea my car has the same thing when I switch gears in between 3-4k rpms it rattles, I hate it. Also in between like 65-70 mph when I let go of the gas it rattles.
yeah, I'm running OEM ITR exhaust w/test pipe and I have an annoying rattle from 3-4k rpm. I initially thought/was told it was the test pipe, but the rattle always sounds like it's from the rear and not where the test pipe meets up with the header. What back there would do it? Could be gaskets I suppose but I'm just not sure. And, no heat shields that I can think of...of course I may not be thinking.
So I'm right there with ya. My sound is LOUD at those rpm's, then quiet and nice afterwards.

i had the same exact problem whenever i hit 3000 rpm's. people told me it was the heat shields so i took them all out, but it was still rattling. then my friend told me it was my header. so i bought a dc 4-1 header and the rattling is gone. maybe that can help a lil.
yeah i have a dc header, with test pipe, and stock gsr exhaust. it sounds like there is a rattle coming from the back of the car so i took out all the heatsheilds and i have and i think i finally figured out what it is. the baffle in the muffler...it rattles at around 3500 rpm and you can hear it inbetween shifts.
check that out maybe you have the same thing going on

probly a new muffler. you could go to like midas and get a OE replacement for like 60 bucks i would think... or you could order a ES oval muffler that sounds sweet.. for like 80-90 bucks.. and have a local muffler shop slap it on for like 20 bucks. i have a ES on my turbo hatch, its soooo nice.
i had a friend rev the engine while i was on the ground next too it and that helped me pin point the problem. my catback rattled the sh*t out of my heat shield. I put it on jack stands and yanked the heat shield that is attached by 4 bolts above and below the cat, no problem now.
Man, I have been combating the same problem for months now. But mine only vibrates at about 2100 rpm. Even the guys at the muffler shop can't explain it. I have a custom catback with a Ractive muffler. I am thinking about purchasing a Greddy Evo 2 and if it still vibrates then, I guess i'll have to live with it.
