'95 GSR- lately it's been cold (-20 at night, -5 for highs) and i let my car warm up pretty good and the temp gauge struggles to reach the normal position, and when it does, and i bring it past 5700 (secs.) the temp gauge will really drop, like almost all the way back down....climbs up again, but even after over 100 miles of driving nonstop, it will still drop every time i get on it...

the car heats as good as i ever remember it heating and i just replaced the thermostat not more than 12,000 miles ago

i could understand a drop when the secondaries open for the 1st time, but not after i've driven the hell out of it.....

i don't remember it doing this last winter

any ideas?...thanks

 

im havin the same problem. when i'm gettin into above 5k-6k, my needle drops almost back down to cold and then when i let off or take it easy, it goes back to normal? anyone help else?

 

sounds like the thermostat is stuck open. or partially stuck open.

that's what i'm thinking....i thought if they went bad they stayed 100% open...could of been misinformed though...

 

replaced my thermostat....took care of it....thanks
