Default Engine trouble

So I just picked up a new LS motor last weekend and put it in my DC a few days ago. Now I was told that the person had put b16 pistons in the block and rebuilt. So I started up the car and it runs and drives fine it just sounds like....a Diesel car or something.

I was thinking that maybe he didn't work on the head and maybe the head is bad? But I dunno.

Anyway I don't get it. It runs smooth with no problems just sounds kinda funny.
Thinking of pulling it out and swapping back in the old motor.

If anyone has any ideas or wants to call me a noob feel free. Any help would be great.

Have you performed a valve adjustment?

Could have rod knock. Does it sound isolated to the block area? Or does it sound more around the cylinder head?

yeah the diesel sound is usually just a sign of valve adjustment needed.

yeah it doesn't sound like rod knock so I looked at the timing and found that it was ok so next up the Valves.

Thanks for the info guys =D
