94' eg b16 swap problems
I swapped a jdm b16 into my 94 civic lx and it has an irratic idle problem. when the car is cold it idles fine but when the car idles down it revs up and down. I know the tps can cause this issue but i have eliminated that as being the problem. I have cleaned the IAC valve with brake parts cleaner and it still does it. can anyone tell me what the possible cause of this could be?, also my cooling fan does not come on either, it is hooked up and worked when i had the d series in the car, removed the a/c components and cut the wires going to the a/c fan, are they connected somehow, thanks.

Did you also check your FITV (https://honda-tech.com/forums/acura-integra-6/%2A%2A%2A-how-%2A%2A%2A-clean-your-fitv-aka-fast-idle-thermo-valve-1564019/). Also could be air in your coolant that you need to bleed off. Check for vacuum leaks on the intake manifold. If you changed any intake gaskets (throttle body, intake manifold) recheck the tightness of your bolts. Any check engine lights?

yeah, check the fast idle and for the fan, double check to see if you hooked up that fan switch plug on the coolant housing and the one right below the oil filter (some motors occassionally have a second one, dont ask me why) if none of that fixes it then jack your single cam for its fan switch and try to see if that one works. if it still persists you might have a massive air bubble in it and you might want to keep an eye on your temp gauge. it did the same thing to my buddy, iac symptoms and no fan turned out to be an air bubble cause he bled his system with the heater core closed

Thanks for the info guys, the only thing i have to add is that the only cel code that pops up is vtec, but my speedo doesnt work so i think that is the problem with that. i never thought of bleeding the coolant system, i will try that and get back to you, thanks again.

let the car get fully warmed um and there should be a little 10mm or 12mm nipple that you crack open and itle let the air out it could take a bit. also check your o2 sensor my car had a irratic idle changed the iacv and nothing then i unplugged my O2 and my car ran perfect might not be your prob but its worth a shot.

or leave your cap off and start the car cold and let it warm up with the heater set to the max (it doesnt have to be turned on full blast or on period, that'll just make the bleed job take longer) then fill it up until it tops off. then give the lower radiator hose several soft squeezes as its warming up and that'll chase several air bubbles out, once the fan finally kicks on, aka thermostat pops open (i recommend holding the rpms around 2300 to make it kick faster) it should spit out the bubbles that are trapped behind the thermostat and top it off again and let it chill for a sec. if you see it keep spittin bubbles and coolant out then you still have air in it and gotta do it til it stops. once it stops you're all set

check to see if you popped any kind of fuses. also stick your hand over your throttle body when its on and see if it still runs. if it does run and struggles then you need to replace your intake manifold gasket and tb gasket. myne were jacked up and i had screwed up gas mileage and idle. it sounded like a bad iac too. if it turns off then we have to move onto the next thought

Re: 94' eg b16 swap problems
Ok, I have cleaned the FITV, checked voltage on IAC and cleaned it, voltage was a little low (12.5 volts instead of 20 volts), checked TPS and read voltage and adjusted, still have the funny idle. A friend told me there are two small holes in the throttle body and to plug them off one at a time to see if the problem gets better any one fimiliar with this concept?, thanks guys.

Re: 94' eg b16 swap problems
yeah it tests to see if its the FITV or IACV but like i said if you just put your hand over your throttle body then you can test to see if its your intake gasket. but the hole on the left leads to your IACV and the one on the bottom is to the FITV. i highly double either one is messed up if you messed with body already
