engine does not start
i have a 92 ls and when i start my engine it runs for about 2 seconds and then stall. I have to wait something like half an hour before i can start it again and it does the same thing. Anyone have had this problem before ? What can be the cause of this ?
thanks
thanks
Fuel or spark?? Try to narrow it down first. I'll guess that after it's run for 2 seconds & quit, the starter still works. It just won't fire.
If so, watch the tachometer. Is it completely dead or does it bounce? Pull a plug wire & check for spark.
If you have spark and a bouncing tach, then open the gas cap & have someone listen closely while you try to start it. The fuel pump should run for 2 seconds, then it'll keep running ONLY if the ECM sees an ignition signal from the distributor. (That's why I want to know about your tachometer.)
Tell us what you find so we can go from there...

I am working on a car that is doing this exact same thing right now. All we did was change out the intake manifold and now the car won't start. the fuel pump is priming, we are getting spark, the tb is opening. all the sensors are hooked up right. When we try to start it it dies after about 1 seconed and even if u floor the gas it still dies. When my friend was trying to start it he mentioned the tach jumped up irratically to 3500 on two different occasions. what should i check for next?
