Default Engine Additives

This came up in another thread, and it was interesting to me anyway so i figured i would start a new topic.

Anyway the debate is whether or not engine additive do what they claim to, and are they good for the engine. I know there is one product on the market called "restore" that claims it will bring back cylinder compression. Similar to oils such as max life. I would like to hear what you have to say about that also, i've been using it for awhile but i don't know if i'm just paying for a different bottle or i'm actually getting something extra for the extra money. There are also injector cleaners, and V-power gas at shell to clean your fuel injectors. Do these work?
I used to add alot of additives to the oil and gas thinking it was doing me some good. But i don't think that it was. Let me hear what you have to think.

I think some of those things just thicken your oil if you are supposed to use it to fix oil burnoff. I have never used any (engine restorer) but usually they are merely a quick fix that will only fix it for so long (if they fix it at all), you will probably have to do a rebuild anyways...

What is that and what does it do?

Any other thoughts.

Cleans carbon deposits and other crap out of engine. And makes a really cool smoke cloud.

Yeah. How many miles are on your car? Cars with really high mileage are sometimes sealed with the carbon deposits, so if you clean them out you're going to be burning oil like a ****...

Mobil 1 High Mileage has seal conditioner that helps the seals swell back up. It also has a cleaning agent to restore lost power from sludge buildup. Works great. (Believe me, even though I work for Exxon Mobil)

I was just reading through that site and the auto-rx page for the last couple hours. I must say, I am sold, just bought two bottles of it.
