Default Electrical issue with running lights

So my running lights/license plates/instrument lights have not been working the past 2weeks or so. I've checked all the fuses and they are all ok. randomly yesterday, my running lights turned on while driving and stayed on for the hour or so drive home. Once I got home I turned the car off and waited an hour or so to try them again, to my surprise they were still working. Now this morning they're not working again, would this mean it's a more than likely the relay is ok? And this is more of a ground issue?

There is no relay for the park lights, [running lights], more then likely it is either a connection problem or the Combination Light Switch is on it's way out.

What is the MM&Y of the car?

You will have to do some testing to find where the problem is, do you have a 12V test light, if not get one, you can get one that will do the job for $2-$5, 94

It's a 2000 4door ls... I guess I shouldn't believe everything I read then, I saw some others having the same issue and there were claiming there was a relay just behind the steering column.

Sorry, for some reason I thought you had a 97, I do not have wiring diagrams for a 2000, although I know the head lights do not have relays on a 2000, so I am guessing the park lights do not either, I will have to check at work to be sure.

Do you have that test light? 94

Hey sorry for the late response, I have purchased a test light. How would I test to see if it's the combo switch?

Quick little update, so I've checked/replaced all the bulbs as well as the combo light switch and still no running lights! Also I used a test light on my rear tail lights and they are not getting any power, any ideas on where to check next?

Check the park light fuse, turn the lights on and use the test light on both test tips of the fuse, fuse must be in it's "slot", test light should light up at both test tips.

If only one test tip lights the test light the fuse is bad, if neither one lights up, there is a connection problem between the CLS and the under dash fuse box.

You can also test the red/green lead coming from the CLS, it should have power when park/head lights are on.

Power to the CLS, [white] must be good if the head lights work.

If you have power on the red/green from the CLS, check all the plugs going to the under dash fuse box, DO NOT just eyeball them, unplug them, look for signs of corrosion and/or bent pins both in the plug and the fuse box side, plug them back in again, making sure they plug in properly. 94

Ok so I went ahead and did this, all the fuses were ok and red/green lead had power.

Now I don't know if this was part of the problem or not but a couple of months ago my running lights were constantly as soon as the car started and the only way to get them to go off was to take the ground off the battery. So the person whom I bought the car from took a look at it and did something under the dash to fix the problem... Now I've gone from lights on all day to no lights at all. Any ideas on what he possibly may have done?

Ok so im planning on attacking this issue this weekend, is there any wiring diagram I can use to help locate the problem? Or is the best way to start at the switch/radio/lighter and work my way backwards?
