Default ecu problem??

I have a 93 gs. It is firing but cant get fuel to the rail. I went to check the codes but the check engine light does not cycle off like it should. It should cycle off after 3-5 seconds but it stays on. So I cant pull the codes. Is this a sign that the ecu is fried or something else.

If the Check Engine light stays on permanently but there are no codes stored, the ECU is likely bad. But first, check the ECU ground wire at the thermostat housing. Is it still attached?

Your going to need to clarify that^^^

"It is firing but cant get fuel to the rail" if there is no fuel the engine will not fire, do you mean, engine will CRANK but not start, [fire]?

I agree the first thing to check is the thermostat ground(s), do not just eyeball the ground(s) remove/clean/reconnect.

If your not getting fuel to the rail the fuel pump is not working, to confirm, turn ign. switch on to run, [not all the way to start] and listen for the fuel pump priming, it should run for a few sec. and then turn off, [priming] it will be easy to hear. 94

new to hondas here, but why would the thermostat grounds not allow the pump to prime and or fire the engine?

If the Check Engine light is on solid but you are unable to retrieve any codes, then the ECM is likely bad. That's often due to moisture.

Sorry, I misread, I though you said it [CEL] would cycle off after 3-5 sec. I now see you said it "should".

So, I agree with TheRealTegger, you definitely need to check the thermostat ground[s], they ground the ECU/ECM, if the CEL stays on the ECU/ECM is the problem, or wiring, [like the ground] to it.

It is an easy check/fix, remove bolt, clean the ground ring terminal and the contact surface on the thermostat cover and the bolt and reinstall, your done. 94
