You'll notice a little difference.

Hi,

I think the rule of thumb is .1 compression point for each 10 Thousandth milled. "Shaving" is like milling, right? For example, you would gain .4 compression points ceteribus paribus. 1 compression point is worth roughly 4 % TQ across the board, so you would get a little less than half of that.

That's kind of a lot to mill, isn't it? I went with 20 thousandths so my compression should be 11.8:1 like VTECMAN. If you mill too much, it can adversely affect the timing and whatnot, right? Also the risk of piston/valve contact?

Thoughts?

If the head is milled correctly you will gain a few horses, but you will have to adjust your cam timing to compensate.. prolly retard the intake AND exhaust.... I would recommend looking into higher compression pistions rather than milling the head... The more you mill a head, the more likely you are to mill it beyond repair.. If you overheat, you can warp the head and then have to shave again. Leave the milling to the racecars...they can afford it for a few horses. Get B16A pistons... $300-$400 if you can afford it... they'll give you up to 1 compression point up on a GS-R.
