Do I need a knock sensor? LS-V with ob1 convesion
Do I need a knock sensor if im running an ls vtec with on obd2a-obd1 conversion harness? I already put the motor in so mounting the knock sensor where one of the alternator bolts are would put me back hours.
No you do not. You can disable the knock sensor in the ECU code. The knock sensor is a safety device that protects the engine if it is run on too low of octane gasoline.

In Canada we can get 94 octane. If I always run 94 is it safe to run without a knock sensor?

We get 94 in the US as well.
The knock sensor normally does nothing. It intervenes if you get bad gasoline or if someone fills the tank with low octane.

do chips automaticly bypass the knock sensor or do I have to have one burned that specificly bypasses knock?
