distributor help ASAP
i just fcked up my distributor by doing a compression test and didnt pull the fuse for the ecu. so now im not getting any spark. i tested my coil and it read 0.83 ohms, i know that is not in the 0.6-0.8 range so that most likely means my coil is bad right? i havent tested my igniter because im by myself so i cant crank the motor and read the numbers at the same time. the spark plugs and wires are all good. are there any other components you can check besides the ignition coil and igniter, or do you just have to replace the distributor. thanks for your help.

yea i kno thanks, but i was asking if there was anything else i could check, but its cool i figured out the problem.
so since the coil output was barely out of the spec range, i was thinking that would be the problem but i had to make sure. i swapped a working igniter and still had no spark. so i bought an ignition coil from autozone
and it started right up.

Coil fixed mine as well, but I'm still lost as to what happened. Did allowing the wires to arc to ground fry the coil? I was lazy and didn't hook up remote starter, just laid the plug wires to the side and turned it over with the key, maybe 20 revolutions total.

I had the same problem, I tried to crank the engine without the cap on and it fried my coil. I did a bunch of test's trying to figure out what was wrong and was not having any luck. Finally i just bought a used distributor but it still did not start. Later i found out the coil in it was shot. Got a new coil and it fired right up.
Lesson learned - I will never troubleshoot another electrical problem with used parts.
