Difficulty downshifting--kick down AUTO trans
I began noticing this lately. My 99 Integra LS has a difficulty/inabillty to downshift, its annoying because at highway speeds it feels like its bogging because its not downshifting/kick down. Anyone know if its common and what can be done?
Thanks

Re: Difficulty downshifting--kick down AUTO trans (Integra Integra)
That's the nature of having an automatic. Chances are VERY low that there is actually a malfunction in the TCM or the transmission itself.
What are "highway speeds"? If it's anything higher than 65mph, then even if you floor it, many times it's not going to downshift. There are many things that dictate what will happen when you floor the gas.

Yeah I was going 65+ almost 70-75 MPH and then I would floor it to see if it shifted OK and it did very fine but then afterwards it felt like it wanted to shift down or w/e but it was hold steady (the RPM's)
Thanks..
Thanks..

lol, yeah the ones all automatics have
How much does your "mechanic" Actually know?
How much mileage does your car have anyways?
Has it been beat on much, or any nice neutral rev drops?

I've only really had one automatic, but it wasn't a teg.
Not really sure though, how far up in speed does it go if you stomp on it from a slower speed?
Like, how far in MPH does it go before shifting into 4th, if you have the gas to the floor.

hmm, im not familiar with honda automatics...but there should be a kickdown cable or throttle valve cable, coming off the throttle body, going to the transmission. This cable lets the valve body know how hard your foot is on the pedal, you could find that cable and try to adjust it..
another thing that might help...Is your overdrive button pressed in on the shifter? just checking...hehe
If this still doesnt fix your problem, i would sugest taking it to a tranny shop, because it could be an issue with your tq converter not locking one to one, or a valve body problem...just throwing some things out...good luck
