Differences in B18B and B18B1?
i am curious to what the differences are? i searched came up empty handed... i'm a VW guy and just bought a 1991 teg (first honda) and just trying to find out some stuff about it, although i am sure the B18B won't reside in the car all too long...
ok here are the specs i found and i will then follow with questions...
90-91 Integra GS
B18B 1834cc
4 cyl, 16 valve DOHC
9.2:1 c.r.
PGM-FI (MPFI)
130 bhp @ 6000
121 lb-ft @ 5000
Redline: 6500 rpm
92-93 Integra GS
B18B1 1834cc
4 cyl, 16 valve DOHC
9.2:1 c.r.
PGM-FI (MPFI)
140 hp @ 6300
121 lb-ft @ 5200
Redline: 6800 rpm
94 + Integra LS
94 + Integra RS
94 + Integra GS
B18B1 1834cc
4 cyl, 16 valve DOHC
9.2:1 c.r.
PGM-FI (MPFI)
142 hp @ 6300
127 lb-ft @ 5200
Redline: 6800 rpm
ok so i know the 90/91's are OBD0 where the 92-95's are OBD1
so my questions then left being are, why does the B18B1 redline 300rpm higher than the B18B? and what is different that gives it the 10 more hp on the the B18B1's, cams?
thanks... and if i would have found it searching i would not have asked, i come from the land of being burnt with a flame thrower if you don't search first before asking stuff like this (corrado forums on VWvortex) <-- which may already have given me a bad name
i hear some of the asses come here and think it's funny to come here and try starting ****?

Just my own personal opinion with G2's I thought they were the B18A series motors. I didnt think the B18B's came till 3rd Gen and up LS'. The reason why you get that extra 300 RPM till redline probably deals with a slightly better built valvetrain to take the extra 300 RPM, but going to redline in a stock LS just puts extra stress on the valvetrain because there is practically no power once you get that high.
And BTW if you plan on going turbo, the B18A/B LS motor is a WONDERFUL platform. Good stock compression ratio, and cheap prices, not to mention if you blow the motor its only about 500$ for a new block.
And on another note, since your asking about the G2 Integra's I would suggest checking out the site http://www.g2ic.com Its a site specifically for us DA's and what not.

thanks i'm going to check that site out now
and pensacola, a friend of mine just came back from down there... i hear there's a pretty good racing scene down there with a turbo RSX Type-S that's rather fast...
that site had specs, but no engine codes hmm...
can you do an LS/VTEC swap on this block? (stock 90-90 B18)

90-91 and 92-93 Integras both have the B18A (except the GS-R of course). The B18B only came out for the 94+ Integras (LS/GS/SE/RS). You can read more about it on http://www.team-integra.net, I think it details the differences between the 130hp, 140hp, 142hp B18 motors.
Edit - I just looked at T-I.net and some of their info is wrong, they incorrectly state in the Integra history FAQ that the G2 had a B18B1 motor.
And yes, you can do an LS/VTEC using a B18A. If I remember correctly the blocks are exactly the same between B18A and B18B. The changes in horsepower and redline are due to head changes - 90-91 and 92-93 have different cams, while the 94+ have a different intake manifold (explaining the 2hp change from the 92-93).
If you are still confused, I found a couple of threads for you:

We have an alright racing scene here. Got an Auto-X just 10 mins away thats held once a month. Im thinking about taking my stock @$$ DA up there and see what I can do. As far as the RSX-S-T, I dun know. I've seen a really clean RSX, drive by it everyday, Dont know if its turbo, but it definately has mods. Most of the cars down here are RICE burners from hell. As long as it looks fast it must be fast
