Default Diff between GSR and Type-R

I'm looking at all of my options on what I can do with my '96 GSR. I saw that the Type-R Integra has a B18C5 motor and the GSR has a B18C1 motor. What are the main differences? Is it possible to swap some parts to have basically the same thing as the B18C5?

ITR has a different crank, pistons, cams, valve train and intake manifold. the block itself is the same. i'm sure there are other things but its early and that should get you started.

there is plenty of info in the archives if you search

B16 pistons, ITR cams and valve springs, and a Skunk2 IM will bring you approximately to a Type-R motor. Of course minus the R throttle body and tranny and ECU. (Approximately is appropiately put in bold so no jackass trys to start saying that it isn't the same as a R, as I know there are still slight variances.)

Search google for "hondahookup manuals". Download the 1997 ITR supplement. It will tell you all of the differences. Keep in mind that there is some marketing spin even in the factory service manual, i.e. implying that only the ITR has 8 counterweights on the crankshaft to reduce vibration at high RPM by 20%. (The GSR and ITR crank have the same number of counterweights. The difference is that the GSR actually has a lower mass crank.)

....this guy
Anyway, Head is diff. too its got the flow similar to the b16 head. I'm all about the frankenstein; I'd keep the gsr, put a b16 head in it, and supercharge it at low psi....savage. But then again, "if it's not a type r, it's not a tight car".

hand ported head. seam welds. superior suspension. of course, there are other little things.

All in all, it wouldn't matter if you're going to build it up, the gsr would just be a cheaper platform.
