Dc2 JDM Front Conversion : Rad support question
hi !
I just bought a JDM conversion for my 95 teg .. and I have a question :
A guy in a bodyshop tell me that the bottom of the rad support is te same on the USDM and the JDM .. it is true ?
because my JDM support was welded in the center .. like if someone cut it and re-weld it .
I have to install all the JDM support ? or just take the top of the JDM support .. and install it on my USDM bottom
other question :
I have to cut approximatively this section ?

Thanks for your help !

Dont cut your JDM support apart that would be pointless. And yes you have to weld the JDM support in or the headlights wont fit.
the guy i the bodyshop tell me that I can take the top of the JDM support .. and weld it on the bottom of the USDM , it is true ?
the headlights bolt on the top of the support .. if I only weldthe top of the JDM support on the USDM bottom .. it will be the same thing ?
he say that it is faster to do that .. I dont know if I should believe him ..
because the bottom of the JDM support looks like the USDM's bottom

Iv never heard of that, but even if it is true why would you want to rip 2 rad supports appart when you can just use the one that is intended for your application for sure.

im pretty sure u can do that. there is a DIY on that where he took the top piece from the jdm support and welded onto the usdm bottom

because he say it is faster to do that .. but I think the easiest way is to install all the JDM Support
I ask this question because my JDM rad support was cut in the middle .. and welded again , that's why I want to know this
the bottoms of the 2 supports look the same .. but install the all JDM support will be probably the best way lol !

Password JDM actually sells the top part and vertical brace by themselves. Apparently that's all you need for the conversion, but if you already have a full JDM radiator support, i would use the whole thing rather than hack it up. Just my .02.

finally I think I will install the complete JDM support .. it is more work , but the result will be nice !
I will do it myself with a friend this Saturday

I just cut the top of the jdm support off and welded it to the bottom of the usdm support, and it came out clean and was very easy to do. If you're worried about the clean look of using the entire jdm radiator support, how often are you going to ride around without the bumper on?
For your second question, yes you have to cut that section.

yes your top and mid support is the only thing difference between jdm and usdm
Installing it the T-bar better and easoer then installin it the Full support way, trust me i know from freinds, even got them done at body shops
When u do the T-bar way you able to mantain you stock "very strong" lower welds
if you take off your old support and install a new one theres gona be new welds there and may not be as good or strong as your stock welds
2 of my friends did the full support after they had it done they had to bring it back to get it rewelded
your lower weld are more important because those are the welds that actually attacthes to the frame of vehicle, the top support is only attacted to the rad. support itself and jsust holds the fender and headlights

heres mine i replaced the hole rad support all you really have to do is drill out the spot welds its really easy if you have a spot weld drill bit did it with a friend that knew how to weld in like half a day but we were not constantly working on it
went from this

To this

PS if your not comfortable with welding you can bolt it in like the one article using bolts one of my friends did that and he hasn't had any problems with his car
