Default dc or comptech

I am buying headers for my car and dont know which brand to buy. I was originally going to go with the comptech header for around $500. Then i thouhgt about getting dc headers. i know there no where as good as the comptech but they are about $250. i think i would be better of getting the dc headers and spending the other 250 on more mods. let me know what you think if you think this is a good or bad idea.

Yep what he ^^^ he said go with comptech, but what are your plans? first plan what u want to do with your car, if u going to go turbo later don't spend your money on the header save for the turbo. Have a plan!!!

Dont get dc sports.Comptechs quality is superior. But if spending 500 you might as well get a uber header...Bisimoto's B-series is a very nice piece

agreed with everyone else above

what are your plans?
How much money can you spend?
What kind of car is this?

JDM DC 4-1 is arguably the best bang for the buck. Around 300ish with a 2.5 collector.

First off, it's "header." There is only one, and we don't have V8's.

And second off, get the Comptech. There is no comparison; just remember, you get what you pay for.

I have a Comptech MIG 4-2-1 header and have been very impressed with it. It also has a stepped design, while the DC is a straight through design.

I see Comptechs going on ebay used for $250 or so. Stainless steel can be cleaned up. I'd buy a used comptech before a new DC.

I have a comptech header on my brother's/my former GSR. The midrange was much better, and the top is as good as just about any other 4-2-1.

Haha, you guys must be rollin in the big bucks. Is the "improved" performance really worth $250? Is it really improved? Or is it your butt dyno? I've yet to see astronomical gains from the Comptech vs the DC Sports 4-2-1. Not being argumentative, I'm just curious as to everyone's opinion.

Note: I have a DC Sports ceramic 4-2-1 so I may be a little biased.

my opinion would be to get the JDM DC 4-1 header since its not to expensive compare to comptech and you can save some money, the only draw back is that the JDM DC headers hangs really low and could be dented if you dont drive careful..

i'm also against the whole comptech thing. i've heard the comptech teams in h-challenge and what not dont even use their own headers, but use the JDM 4-1. the DC JDM 4-1 is a replica of this header, and i believe would out flow the comptech 4-2-1. and i dont think you always "pay for what you get." sometimes you're paying for a name and not performance.

i'm gonna go jump on the bandwagon now.

of course comptech wouldn't use a 4-2-1 header in a comptetition.

4-2-1s give the best street performance, imo. with 4-1s you lose a good chunk of the powerband.

i had the jdm 4-1 dc but never put it on b/c i needed more of a street header (don't spend that much time at high rpm), so i sold it and got the comptech. i'm happy w/ it. so just get whichever suits your needs more.

Every little mod you put on your car you'll see a bit of a difference between the comptech and dc sports header, i think its very much worth the extra 250. If your going to buy a header, then why not buy one that your going to be happy with. Why buy one just to say you have a header and not really feel a difference. Just stay stock if your not looking for any gains or performance. If you want good power then go top of the line and good design, if you want cheap power then don't spend any money. Why spend around a grand on a shitty header, greddy exhaust including installation and get next to zero performance gains????

I know all about all motor and getting power out of it so im not just speaking to be an ***. I made 190whp on ITR cams in my GSR last year. So, im a huge supporter of buying the right parts and buying ones that work together.

Whatever you do, unless you want to be replacing/fixing your header after just a few years, don't get the DC ceramic headers.... mine cracked just like a lot of other peoples. I would avoid most DC products in general.
