Default dash pot?

waht is a dash pot? all i know its an emission device for CO, and that it cause the throttle plate not to snap shut but close slowly any one have a promblem with it?

my throttle plate doesn't close slowly, it will snap shut if you let off the gas real quick, as far as I know.

They were needed because carburators & early injection systems couldn't handle the throttle snapping quickly shut. They'd go obscenely rich for a moment, & EPA didn't like that.

yea i know was looking up info on it later last nite and it was all old cars but y on a 90 teg...
does anyone know if it could cause the RPMs to jump up when stoping like to 1500?
and also at start its at 2000 to 2500 RPMs?
i am goin to to clean the IAC and see if that helps

i dont think your dashpot would cause any rpm jumps. car throwing any codes? possibly tps or a vacuum leak? the dashpot really isnt necessary on efi cars, especially your 90 teg. if you remove it i guarantee you wont notice a difference

I removed mine on my 90LS back when I had the stock intake manifold and throttlebody. Never really noticed much of a difference.

the only code is an egr code, which the egr was totally removed and vacuum lines are ghetto rigded maybe a vacuum line

yeah, definitely check the line that used to go to the egr, make sure its plugged nicely. then, check all other vacuum lines
