Damn Bolt
I'm in need of help. I'm in the middle of my engine swap and I need to tranfer the Crankshalf pulley onto the new motor because the power steering pulley patterns don't line up. So that's why it must be done.
I tried everything that I could think of.
- PB blasted the bolt and used a 20lbs lifting weight and hitting it on the breaker bar.
- Electric Impact gun
- 8Hp air compressor gun
- 3 Foot breaking bar and rachet
- Stuck 2 screws on the flywheel threads holes on the other side and put a breaker bar diagonally and had a friend hold the breaker bar, while I'll tried to hit it with a sludge hammer on the crankshalf pulley side with a breaker bar.
Went to autozone and ask them if they carry that Bolt within a Bolt tool. They said they don't.
So now I ran out of ideas so I"m here asking for help. How do you guys remove the crankshalf pulley? If there is a special tool, can you please tell me. At this point I'm willing to fork 100 bucks to get that stupid tool. Just dont know who carrys it.
And also, what's the bolt size for that huge bolt near the oil filter that I have circled?
Thanks.

What bolt pattern size is this bolt?

Oh yeah this is a B series engine.

That's the tool to hold the crankshaft pulley, there's another one that holds the flywheel side, but i'm not sure where to get that one.

Is there another way to around this? I would assume previous b18b swap into DA9 came across this problem also? Or can I just use the B18B powersteering rack+pulley.. because right now I have the B18A Powersteering rack+pulley with the B18B crankshalf pulley thats why it the belt doesn't line up. I checked 6 local shops here and they don't sell the tool. What I explain and show photos of.. they gave me a harmonic balancer tool.

This dude is right, If you look in a helms manual it says to remove the dust sheild for the flywheel and drive a screwdriver between the tranny housing and the flywheel. I didn't believe it at first but it really does work great. Get a friend to hold the screwdriver in place, and put a breaker bar on the bolt (may even want a pipe on it) and use ur leg to push on the breaker bar. I have done this many times and been very sucsessfull. Or you can spend the money and get the right tool. Its up to u and ur wallet.

see, the screwdriver in the flywheel didn't work for me...I put the car in 5th, held down the brake and my buddy used a 12ft pipe on my breaker with all of his strength and finally the ****** came loose. It was a huge ordeal...

We'll the new engine is outside.. so I can't put it in gear.. Anyways.. I got it done.
I went to homedepot and got a 12 foot fench pole and it did the trick. It was just that the motor was too damn old and the bolt was put too damn tight. But the 12 foot fench pole did the trick. LOL
