just started today
my temp gage works when car is on idle
but when I rev the needle drops back to cold
anybody experience this
any help appreciated if you could point me out
the right direction to fix this

when it goes down, does it still go back up? or stays put at a certain point?

my problem may be similiar to yours, when my car warms up, it would go near the normal temp point, but driving for more than a few minutes, the temp would go down, but would go back up later on. i replaced the thermostat, then it was koo after that, no prob anymore

 

Check your main grounds off your battery, where it connects to the tranny and the frame. My grounds were bad, and my gauges were doing some damn weird things also.
