same problem here, i used to chirp 3rd gear in my 90 ls but i noticed that i couldnt do it anymore. thats when i realized that the front tranny mount was torn.

a torn mount doenst make u loose torque it just lets the motor move and twist instead of putting the power to the ground.

i plan on either purchasing the prothane front motor mount inserts or just filling the mount up with window urethane, there is no way im gonna by a new front mount from honda, what is it like $80? where as the inserts are like 40 and the urethane is like $15?

well, the mount definately sounds like the problem with your wheel hop issue.

definately replace the mount. i have the same problem (even with my brand new honda mount) its already gone on me. i need to get some hasport mounts.

It was like 23 for the mount (at dealer price for me) from honda.

as for what mount you can use, you CAN use a mount from another b series, i had one on until i got my new one. it has an extra hole though.just disregard it.

Chirping is from clutch engagement, and perhaps instead of grabbing really hard and giving you that 'chirp', the broken mount is just tilting the motor instead. Which isnt a good thing.

Yes, you will loose torque at the wheels because the broken mount is allowing your engine to move in the engine bay instead of delivering all potential power to the wheels.

Motor oil is what's recommended in our transmission. I use 10w30 in my trans.

HELL NO! That is one of the worst peices of advice I have EVER seen on honda-tech.

Stay away from motor oil in your tranny. It will ruin it.

Stick with Honda MTF

honda recommends thier MTF or equivilent for all honda/acura manual trannys, do not use anything else. people will be dumb and put gear oil in ther tranny, it equals trouble.

I noticed that before I used to chirp 2nd gear and sometimes 3rd gear. Now it doesn't seem to do it anymore. I checked under the hood and I find the front tranny mount is trashed. When I put a little gas on neutral the motor would shake more than normal. It can't be my clutch because I just replaced it 3000 miles ago. I also have a bad tranny but there were no problem chirping before. The previous owner used motor oil in the tranny and I just found out. =\ Also I noticed that the car would shake when I start on first gear like it's choking or something. Is it safe to run with a broken front tranny mount for now? I'll replace it soon. Would I have to get a DA front tranny mount or will other B series tranny mount work? I also have a messed up driver axle. . BTW I have a 91 TEG.
edit* I tried searching came up with nothing.

yes, broken motor mounts will result in poor torque transfer to the wheels, also the motor moving around may be causing your extra jerking in 1st gear and reverse. I had a 92 teg with bad motor mounts and it did these exact same things. I had custom solid mounts fabricated and installed by RPMnyc here in queens. I loved them, better than stock torque transfer (more torque to the wheels), wasn't too harsh, and I was able to eliminate the upper front strutbar.......just overall better ride and response.
