Default DA climate control issues

Hey guys,

I just picked up a DA integra about a week ago and when the hot or cold air is on, the air only comes out the dash vents. No matter what button I press, it doesn't change. It won't go to the defroster at all. What could be the issue? Sounds an electrical problem, but I don't know much about the heating and cooling system to start tearing it apart. Any help is much appreciated.

What year is your DA?

Sounds like either the Mode Control Motor is NG, linkage is disconnected/broken, or wiring to the MCM is bad, maybe even the control head. [HVAC Controls].

You can look up under the drivers side of the dash to the side of the heater box to see the heater unit, [#2] the Mode Control Motor, [#5] and Mode levers, [#s 6 8 9 11 14 and all the little parts that go with them...

First thing to look for, is the motor plugged in?

Second, check the "levers", make sure nothing has come apart or is broken.

You can turn on the ign. and see if there is any movment as you switch the modes, it will be hard to see if the motor works, [turning on a broken shaft], remove the motor, you can then see the "drive shaft" move, if the motor works.

With the motor out you can move the levers by hand to see if all the doors/flaps are working, if they are it is a good bet the motor was/is not working, then you need to find out why, simple way is to plug in a known working one, other wise you will need to break out the multimeter an do some testing, 94
