Default DA basic swap questions

Okay I've searched around a little but I'm not finding what I'm looking for. I've been digging through heaps of DC info and some DA info but it's not clear if it's OBD1 or not. Sorry, I'm sure this is covered 1000x but if someone just wants to answer some quick basic questions, I'd appreciate it.

I have a 92 Integra LS. It's OBD1, obviously, but it's a cable tranny, obviously. It's got 220k miles, but running strong, so I'm looking toward the near future but I'm not in a hurry.

I know that to swap in an OBD1 GSR engine, I need the longblock, P72 ECU, and hydro tranny conversion. But do I HAVE to use the hydro tranny? Will the B18C1 bolt up to a cable tranny?

Is there a cable tranny with LSD readily available? Would the B16 cable tranny be my best bet if I plan to keep the GSR swap stock?

Is there anything else I need to swap in a B18C1? Obviously I will have to wire VTEC, but that's cake. I swapped a D16Z6 into my Civic DX; CAKE. Will the P72 plug right into my OBD1 LS harness. Do I just need to pin in the VTEC wires like I did on my Civic?

Thanks.

You can use the Hydro tranny with the cable set up .. I am doing it and heard that this set up works good .. here the link for the part and also Hasport makes it too

you DON'T have to convert to hydro....so yes, you can use your cable tranny with the b18c block

the cable tranny w/ lsd you would want to find is the jdm ys1.....but be prepared to pay and not know with 100% certainty that it is in perfect working order i.e. any synbcro issues

your best bet is obviously to stay obd1 for tunability purposes

So why would you blow $150+ to convert? You could just rebuild your cable tranny.

What are you basing that assumption on? I already have a Civic built to the very limit of what could be considered acceptable for daily driving. This Integra is actually going to be my mostly stock, comfortable, daily driver. The LS gearing is just fine on the stock LS motor for my needs. So it will be even more fine with a GSR engine.

LSD would be nice. From my experience, Honda/Acura factory LSD is about the same as their factory real-time AWD. But I don't know if I want to pay $1000+ for it...

First of all you will want to spend more time over on g2ic.com if you want more DA info.

Second, there is a swap guide in the TegTips section that covers all of this.

As someone already mentioned, your only chance for a factory LSD cable trans is a JDM YS1 w/ the OPTIONAL LSD. It was not standard, only an option. On the other hand it is not that hard to convert a 92-93 YS1 case to fit newer internals w/ factory LSD (like a Type R set).

The point someone was trying to make is that while the gearing in a "long geared" YS1 is fine for the B18A/B, it is not optimal for a VTEC engine. Will it bolt right up and work? Sure, no problem. Your problem comes where you will fall out of VTEC during shifts with your stock YS1.

Hey, don't get me wrong. I appreciate your opinion. I'm just saying that I wont be racing this car. I wont mind "falling out of VTEC" when I shift. I only use VTEC in third gear as it is. People here get on the freeway at 40mph. The next lane over is doing 80. So that's the only time I need VTEC, and once I hit 70ish, I back off the throttle.

Normally I'd spring for the best performance, no question. But I already have a pretty fast Civic (for my needs). So I'll have to look at the costs and see whether it's worth it for me.
