Cylinder 1 Phantom problem!! Help!
I parked my car outside overnight for the first time this winter, and in the morning while reversing I stalled it.. when i tried to start it wouldnt. I tried for a long while before it did. But only 3 cylinders were functioning.
My motor is a stock b20vtec motor with itr cams.
Most items on it were changed eg. waterpump, timing belt, etc.
Car was converted from obd0 to obd1 by premade ecu conversion harness.
Injectors were rewired from obd0 to obd1 at a shop called: Racing evolutions.
1st Diagnosis: Spark was good, we took out the plug, connected it to the wire and grounded it. Compression tested: 200, 200, 200, 190(cylinder1). Smelled for fuel: Nothing. I thought I had a clogged injector but as we tested for signal there was nothing.
Solution we reinstalled the injectors + Rail. Checked the injector 1 wires for continuity to the ecu, it was good. We Wired injector 1's ground straight to another ground to fix the issue... or so we thought. Injector 1 was spewing gas. and for some reason cylinder 1 was not sparking it. We know that cylinder 1 has compression gas and spark now, but for some reason not firing cylinder 1.
This is where I am left. Stumped. Currently the car is running on 3 cylinders, and when i remove cylinder 1's spark plug wire we dont get any changes in the idle. Currently it sits on a rough idle. We even changed ECUs from my b20vtec basemap to a GSR ecu just to see if it would make a difference, but it didnt. I even changed spark plug # 1.
Any help would be greatful. I was thinking that somehow when racing evolution rewired injectors and took out the resistor it messed something out sending the wrong signal to injector 1, causing it to push more gas through the motor.
Stupid thing is such a pain in the *** to figure out.
