Cup holders for DA integras!
I thought this was a great idea to those who wanted cupholders. Looks Mad JDM y0! (jk) I got my integra with no pocket or stereo. I went out and bought a metra kit and it sucked ***. There was one opening for the headunit and the bottom portion was blocked off. Didnt come with any aftermarket pocket. Anyway, I was sick of looking at it so I went out to a junkyard in hopes to finding a cd pocket thingy with no luck. I then remembered reading somewhere on the net about using 87-95 ford taurus and mercury sable cupholders. I finally found one that wasnt broken and used that. I kept having issues with the headunit and cup holder fittings but after a little force I got it in. Before you do anything you need to trim off the triagle end pieces. If you ever do this mod you will understand what I'm talking about.
Anyway, some cupholders came with a bottom support piece that mine didnt come with.
As far as the headunit andd cupholder fitment being an issue, I finally got it to fit. Basically the cupholders have tabs on the side that will slide in with no problems. Becuase the headunit was a bit thicker I couldnt fit it in with the aluminum piece thats supposed to go around the headunit. Basically it gives the headunit and support so a theif cant go and pull the headunit out. I kinda ghetto rigged it and sat it on top and ducktaped it before I installed the cupholders. I know it sounds ghetto but the cup holders do all the supporting for the headunit. DO NOT SIT THE HEADUNIT FLUSH TO THE CUPHOLDERS! If you do that you will have probelms with the drinks not wanting to fit correctly. I moved it back alittle before I did the ghetto rigging to make sure the cupholders had enough clearence. You can see in the pics that it isnt flush but I dont really care. Anyway, it was pretty quick and easy to install so here are the pics.
Trim those triangle pieces. There are 4 total.
Yea I know! I got the **** brown interior...

looks good, ive seen this mod in person and its a really sweet thing. quick question, do the cupholders when open get in the way of your shifter in 3rd and 5th? i was thinking of doing this since when i bought my car the owner had blocked off the pocket for his eq, well i took the eq out and now have a 3/4 covered usless pocket.

i second this did it slide right in the bottom pocket, or did you have to modify that?

The cupholders amazingly do not get in the way of 1st 3rd or 5th. Not sure about a short shifter though. Stock one doesnt get in the way.

Its slid right in the bottom pocket. No mods of any kind except the trimming you need to do on the back of the unit.
Holds small cans, bottles, and cups but it doesnt hold a large bugerking soda or 20oz coke bottles. That should give you guys and idea of how big the drinks can be. I still like it tough and it some waht looks stock. Gotta love the coin holder too!

I may. Not sure if the pocket is the same dimentions but from the looks of it, it is. Someone should try this on a G3 as well!
