JUN Type 1s = VERY MILD, very expensive!

If you're going to drop the $$$, you might as well get the Type 3s + valvesprings + retainers.

Go with the CTRs.

Would it be feasible to have CTR cams with a ~9000rpm redline? I want to know how far up the revband they will make power.

Obviously I would upgrade the valvetrain, and such. I'm starting to think the Toda Bs are too expensive for me.

I just hit 9200 RPM tonight with my CTRs...no problems.

I was testing out the Mugen program...hehe...

for either CTR or ITR cams, what valvetrain modifications need to be made to a GS-R engine to allow for revving between 8500-9000k rpm? Which set of cams give more hp. All the CTR cams I've seen cost more than ITR cams, is that b/c they're harder to get?

if your looking for that mild of a cam go with the OEM cam (CTR). I read somthing somewhere that the type of metal that the OEM cams use retains oil better which helps keep them lubricated. Most of the aftermarket cams are made from a diffrent type of metal that doesnt retain oil as well. Besides, people allways say oem parts fit better anyway... dont know if it's true but who know's people allways make **** up.

u cant bet OEM cams.
for valvetrain, stiffer inner valve springs both sides w/ ITR outer valves springs and chipped ECU or ITR ECU and u should have no probs in a GSR.
just get a good header that flows well, and hi compression pistons
with some good tuning and u will be set

the only difference between ctr and itr cams is 3 degrees on the intake cam so they're really not worth the extra money

i know on the my ls the head didnt have to be removed to do vavle springs but i heard the gsr's are different do you really have to take the head off to do valve springs.

I thought JUN type 1 cams were made for forced induction..??

You can get a pair of CTR/ITR cams for around $500-600. Crower is another cheap option too but i'm still unsure about the quality. Both of them make pretty good power.

You shouldn't have to pull the heads. But you'll need special tools. Snap-On makes one, or you can
inject compressed air into the spark plug hole to keep the valves in.

It does seem like not too many places know about this, though.

you can also fill the cylinder with a thick rope so that it keeps the valve up. Just make sure you dont loose the rope in there.

ctr cams it is the exhaust of choice will be a modified greddy cat back header , and intake not yet determined (injen or icebox debate)

ps what does everyone hate about dc headers they arent the best in the world but i noticed a good gain with my 4-1 on my ls

I think people hate the uneven quality of DC headers.

That's not true. The difference between the CTR intake cam and ITR intake cam is 3 deg, but the CTR and ITR cams have much more lift and duration than the GSR cams, so yes, it is worth the money. Try intalling the mod yourself before you pass judment. also 3 deg duration is a lot. -C
